With a powerful team of people working together we’ve taken it to the streets. We’ve recruited resident and business street champions who have committed to take responsibility for their rubbish; to keep their part of the street clean and report 100% of incidents. We’ve also turned “hot-spots” into “beauty spots” with fast and furious action days to improve problem areas and create natural barriers to fly-tipping.
Next steps will see us work closely with Cllr Stuart Collins to ensure the Council’s new “village” system of street cleaning and collection works effectively. We’ll also be working to identify problem landlords who aren’t taking responsibility for their properties, and educating people about practical solutions for our streets through their local schools and faith institutions.
